If you are into the extreme sports, and exciting surf, you’ve come to the right place. Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel offers surf board rentals for those who want to put their skills to the test and surf lessons for those who have always wanted to learn. Playa Hermosa is perfect for all surfing ability levels. And since the beach is so big and never crowded, there is plenty of room to spread out and enjoy a less crowded day of surfing, one of the big surfing perks in Nicaragua. Our professional instructors are highly qualified to teach you to surf quickly and safely. Lessons can be in English or Spanish.

Whether you take a romantic walk along our 2-mile beach, or hike through our subtropical forest with one of our guides [NOTE FROM BONNIE: You can have a hiking activity for guests, maybe they pay a small fee and go with one of your guards. Canopy Tour

Let us introduce you to Da Flying Frog, an exciting San Juan del Sur canopy adventure! The horseback ride up to the canopy includes a view of one of the more impressive petroglyphs around San Juan del Sur. Lauded as the longest canopy tour in Nicaragua, the zip lines of Da Flying Frog cover 2.5 kilometers of subtropical forest with 17 platforms. The longest one is 328 meters (1050 feet) long! The highest one passes over a deep canyon at a height of 70 meters (225 feet). Thrill at glorious views of the bay and get to experience the natural vegetation and wildlife of Nicaragua ─ howler monkeys, eagles, iguanas, magpies, orioles, sloths, and who knows what else ─ close up and personal! The experience takes about two hours. The general fee is $30 USD per person (including tax), and $25 USD for tour operators. If you bring a larger group (up to 20 people), the prices are $ 20 USD each.

Sailing Tours

Enjoy a relaxing half-day sail in the afternoon or a sunset cruise – your choice. Food and drink included in the price. Prices vary depending on captain and time of year. Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel will make sure you get to the sailboat on time and we’ll pick you up to bring you back to the hotel when you are ready.

Booze Cruise

Take a fun cruise in a modern motorized fishing boat to enjoy the spectacular sunset of San Juan del Sur. If you’re lucky, you’ll see whales and dolphins playing around your boat. Snacks and a beer included in the price. Prices vary depending on captain and time of year. Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel will make sure you get to your destination boat and back to the hotel on time.

Outfitted “American Style” Fishing Tours

If you like fancy fishing, you’ve come to the right place. Get out 20 or 30 miles into the Pacific to look for dorado, sailfish and marlin. Ride in comfort, use electronics, catch fish! Prices vary depending on captain and time of year. Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel will make sure you get to your destination boat and back to the hotel on time.

Nica Fishing Adventures

Try fishing the old-fashioned Nica way for a day of fun and adventure. Use poles provided or try the “line around the piece of wood” method used by local fishermen for centuries. Marvel at the beautiful coastline; see whales and dolphins if you are lucky. Red snapper, tuna, jackfish and rooster fish may very well show up on your hand line! Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel will make sure you get to your destination boat and back to the hotel on time. $40 an hour per boat. Up to six people can go. You won’t find an exciting fishing trip like this anywhere else. All fish cleaned and scaled so you can have it cooked for you back at Playa Hermosa Beach Hotel!
